The Project
The AIP App is a searchable database for people on the AIP (Autoimmune Protocol) diet. My goal was to help people on this diet as they transform their eating habits and learn which foods are compliant vs non compliant.
The Challenge
Through various methods of user testing and research, I identified several common pain points among users. These included:
-
Awareness of Diet Versions: Many users were unaware that there are multiple versions of the diet.
-
Popularity of a Specific Version: The most widely followed version of the diet was created by Dr. Sara Ballantyne.
-
Primary Question: The most common question users asked was, "Is this compliant?"
-
Breakfast Options: Within the Facebook group, a frequent question was, "What do you eat for breakfast?"
For those in the re-introduction phases, the main questions were:
-
"How do I start re-introductions?"
-
"How do I know if I’m having a negative reaction?"
The Solution
The clickable prototype below addresses many of these pain points in the MVP version of the app through the following features and capabilities:

Each of these features are meant to guide and support the user through their journey. It gives them the information they need to move confidently through the phases of the AIP Diet from Elimination to Phase 4 Re-Introductions.
Keyword Search
Barcode Scanner

Early Wireframes
Throughout the design process, clients are updated on a regular basis and given an opportunity to give feedback, This ensures that everyone is always on the same page and no one is left guessing and the project progresses. Here the client can review the accuracy of the content and see the proposed user flow. Branding is added in later phases.

Clickable Prototype
At the conclusion of the project, the client receives a clickable prototype that they have approved at every stage of development. This prototype can be showcased in presentations, either in its entirety or as individual screens. As the saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words"—imagine the value a complete prototype could bring to your business.
